It is the learning process that I focus on when I teach. This focus seeks:

• ways that facilitate learning
• approaches that cultivate trust, equality, and mutual respect between teacher as facilitator and student as learner

I am interested in the area known as self-directed learning  - a more independent approach to learning that underscores critical thinking. This approach encourages students to:

• learn for themselves
• enjoy the learning process
• learn through self-motivation, discussion, and collaboration
