Your Feedback

1. Earlier I browsed through your website. I find it aesthetically beautiful. The colours and page design are pleasant and the pictures crisp and inspiring. I'm not sure if it is intentional (I am using an OCAD old computer now), but with every new page I [must] open in a new window. It is a bit of a work to close them when I finish reading. Other than that little comment I like the web site a lot. The language is clear with enough term definition when needed. On a personal level, it is great to know more about you through the resume and work experience. It looks impressive. Your journal reflections give me a deeper understanding of the process you are making and your train of thought. It gives the site a more intimate dimension which I find valuable. Revelations of the dilemmas and conflicts you were facing with are honest, and therefore engage me strongly on an intellectual and emotional level. Reading through the journal I appreciate your compassionate and sensitive observations, on a personal and social level.

2. Beautiful site!! Love your pictures and the colors that you chose. And a special thank you for the thank you!

3. Great site. Beautiful photos, work really well with the text. The only tiny thing I don't understand is when you expand a menu  often you get an introduction submenu to click  on. Since there is  nothing else in the submenu, it seems unnecessary. In terms of navigation, I would also put a link on the bottom to get  to a site map for quick reference for those returning to the site.

4. Loved your website.  The content is excellent--very readable and the graphics and layout are really wonderful.  Navigation is easy, very intuitive.  Thanks for sending it along.

5. The only page that did not load well was...the three photos [that] loaded incorrectly...

6. I opened your website and I'm impressed.  When did [you] take these pictures?  I tried opening what was in the contents, but I  can't.  What I did was just click on it and it didn't respond.  I don't know what else to do.  I'm glad you're progressing in you Masters.  Your're now in your 3rd year [and] before we know it, you'll be graduating.

7. Thanks for sharing your web site.  I took a quick surf through and  thought I'd give you my reactions.  I like the general layout.  The  photos are a really nice touch.  They are artistic and pleasantly  metaphoric. I didn't really look at the content/copy, so I won't comment on that... but what I had difficulty with was the menus on  the right.  When I clicked on something I expected to be sent to the  page, but then I had to click again on the next link (for the  introduction... or other pages).  It wasn't evident to me what page I  was on because things on the menus seemed so similar.  Perhaps if you  indented the submenus once you have gone to another menu?  Not sure  if this makes sense.... but it really distracted me from navigating.

8. You got me at a busy time, in short: [br] my 2cents. access: loaded fast  nav stfx link should open in a new window so the user does not exit your site. true of other links. side nav contents, when you click on ... about me it is difficult to grasp what happened. could intend, stronger bold, or use a different colour for the sub menus. self directed learning and writing samples pages lost some of the side nav info?? same with needs assessment. all the sub sections in the right hand side menu do not show the same right hand side menu. should they? can the first three needs ass[essement] sample docu[ments] load smaller?

[H]elm, good word! [...]the truth is[...] quote, a little small font but i realize the space issue. what about making the banner less tall? True also on other pages, that is you could lessen the height of the photos. excellent home page banner, in fact outstanding use of photo throughout. I like pdf file links to say it is a pdf, your progress report sample does not indicate to the visitor that it is a pdf file, likewise the tutoring forms, prof[essional] self assess[ment] form (the writing sample did indicate pdf). You gave lots of journal entries. glad to see the web ref[erences]to blo[g]s. good idea to include creating this web-port[folio]. as well as the photo credits (what, no beaconia beach shot!). all content was relevant.

[E]asy to follow. amicitia (credit page), I'm not familiar with that word. Thanks for the credit, glad I have been of some help. You are the credit page for our TO tour!

home page and others is/are a little dark. Great start, Leona would be impressed at this stage if you decide to not act on my comments. PS loved the cig butts photo!

9. Wow, what a fantastic portfolio. I want to direct others to your site--hope this is okay since it is web based. You have done a great job of outlining your strengths and your abilities here, and even including things that surprised me (didn't know you taught Japanese or were into film). By your own criteria of excellence in web design (navigable, accessible etc) you have done a first class website. I just spent some time clicking my way around and I found it to be very user friendly. The photographs are so well chosen and non-obtrusive that I enjoyed my tour very much. You certainly learned this HTML system well. I know this is a work in progress but in most respects it is very advanced.  I was especially impressed by the resume, educational philosophy, and how you tied in SDL to your whole portrait of yourself. SDL is so central to your work and your reading that it makes good sense that it threaded through this. You have included lots of important information here to help the viewer understand who you are and what your incredible strengths are in teaching, volunteering and tutoring, among other things. The title, from limitation to liberation, is of course a great adult education phrase, capturing as it does the goal  of most adult educators to help transform the person and the world. I can see this theme running through the entire website. As to evaluating this, all I can say [it] is an excellent job. The content, artifacts, design and accessibility are top notch. I have no suggestions for improvement.

10. I just visited your website, and I couldn't believe that this was your first website!  You did a great job.
One thing that I want to suggest is that it would be great for viewers if you can fix the sub-menu to be opened within the same window. Right now, a new window opens every time you click menu buttons.  I also found an error on this page,"http://www.tomrobles.com/wp_creating_this_website-portfolio.html", that those top three images are not aligned properly.

11. Just a quick response to your earlier message. I briefly checked out your website and all I can say is 'WOW!!!!!' It's so professional and so [are] you too...I love the photographs and the whole layout. I'll read more in detail as time goes by. Thanks too for the personal acknowledgement. Some time ago I created a Professional Portfolio of my own and have always thought with the state of technology today there must be a more advanced presentation method..now I see another option. Thanks for sharing....you must be proud

12. What an amazing project you have done. I can't imagine the number of hours that have been spent working on this. The photos are very well presented and beautiful. The website is easy to navigate around. My one comment, and this is coming from a very visual learner, is that when you click on one of the main titles in bold on your home page and then it shows the next non-bold type sub-titles -- if these were indented and/or in a different colour this would make it easier to see where you are at. I found that occasionally I wouldn't know if I was on a main title or on a subtitle. Otherwise it looks wonderful. I hope that this little bit of information is helpful. I was very impressed by your literature review and it makes me start to think that I need to start to thinking about what I am going to do for my thesis and where I need to start for my lit review.

13.What a great undertaking! I'm impressed that you've mastered the technology to the level that you can create a website like this and use it as a tool for self-expression. I love the photos especially the beautiful flower on the acknowledgements (I tried to see the info about the photos but couldn't get in there - maybe it's my computer). The thing that really strikes me, though, is the volunteer work that you're doing/have done. You're creating a life of learning through experience - and that's what strikes me the most - continuing to launch out in new ways. Thank you for sharing the website with me.

14. I read your current feedback and agree especially with point #8 - the right panel seems inconsistent in its content. Also, I think the top banner - attractive though it is - takes up a lot of real estate. Finally, as one navigates through the site, you keep launching a new window. Thus I found each time i returned to the same topic, a fresh window was redundantly launched. I tried this out with, for example, the Feedback window and generated multiple feedback windows. But the material presented is most readable and well structured.I hope these comments help.  I am impressed, and once all these assignments are over (when oh when? I ask) I want to do something for my own portfolio.

15. I really enjoyed your website's launch; it has a wonderful warmth to  it that makes it a perfect ad for you, and I think you do a good job  of conveying your teaching statement with it -- my only provisos were  that the image was a bit faint and that there were some typos.

16. Finally had a chance to go to your Website. Thought the photos blended well especially. Great to see your resume. You have gone far buddy!!! Love the topic--[I can] relate. Thought you must have already made a few changes as I had no problem with navigation, except for not being able to go back to the previous page with the arrow: lots of windows open. Drop down menus at the top would be a nice touch to navigate faster. Couldn't get the radio interviews unfortunately but [have] been deleting stuff as have just purchased a new computer [which has] not [been] set up yet. Very well written. Pages flowed nicely--could follow your train of thought well ( I've been out of University for a time and unaccustomed to reading scholarly literature.   A few words I didn't know the meaning to....can't seem to find them now on rereading. [I think it] depends on the audience you are trying to attract. [I] DID HAVE TO TURN THE BRIGHTNESS ALL THE WAY UP ON MY COMPUTER TO READ well. Also, is the word "queer" politically correct outside of the community. I wonder if some people would take issue with the lingo, or is that how the film group describes itself? [Isn't it usually] G,L,B,T? Keep up the good work-- you've obviously been working hard!!
